JORDAN’S ‘FLU GAME’ SHOES SELL FOR $104,765 AT AUCTION
Being a ball boy pays, it seems. After Michael Jordan’s infamous 1997 Flu Game, where he scored 38 points while allegedly suffering from a severe case of food poisoning, he autographed his game-worn shoes and gave them to Utah Jazz ball boy Preston Truman.
Truman put the shoes up for auction and, according to ESPN, sold for $104,765 on Thursday, “shattering the record price paid for a pair of game-worn shoes in any sport.”
He auctioned the shoes, he said, because “I just didn’t see the point to having something so cool and a part of NBA history sitting at my bank anymore.” Replacing them in the bank with $100K seems like a good reason, too, though.
